Recently Room 1 have been learning about Keeping Ourselves Safe a.k.a K.O.S.
We even got lucky enough to get a visit from Constable Ken an Educational Police Officer.
We have been doing many interesting activities about different types of abuse and stress related feelings.
We even watch some videos and were read some stories. Constable Ken will be coming again on Thursday.

North Canterbury Boys
Room 1 have been learning about striking and fielding with the North Canterbury team. Most of the time we have Fraser and Stacy. Last Thursday they taught us about Cricket, the first game we did was Gate Cricket.

Literacy circles
Room 1 have been doing literacy circles. If you don't know what literacy circles are, they are a group of 6 people who are all reading the same book. Some of the books we've been reading are:
The Magician's Elephant
Juggling with Mandarins
Bridge to Terabethia At the Lake
Holes
The Wolf in the Wardrobe
Almabama Moon.
We all have different roles and tasks to complete before we meet. We have a director who is in charge, and then discuss the part of the book we have been reading.

Last Wednesday Room 1 had a visit from Susie from the Christchurch art gallery she came in and taught us about water colours.
She taught us about mixing colours and showed us some other artists paintings then she took us outside to do some extraordinary artworks of our own.
